All the Wireless Network Access Points managed by Information Services provide the SSIDs   eduroam   and   central for use by members of the University of Edinburgh.
Visitors registered locally may use SSID central.
Visitors from participating JANET roaming/eduroam sites may use eduroam.

The majority of the Wireless Access Points support 802.11n.
All Wireless Access Points support both 2.4GHz and 5GHz.
The 802.11b standard is no longer supported.

There are many conditions which affect the strength of a wireless signal. If your signal is poor, you should attempt to find the exact location of the Access Point and if possible get closer.

Please note that when using an Access Point within a library, you will get a very poor signal when surrounded by metal stacks.
